The Wave was lucky enough to have another visitor at our lovely Sunset District headquarters last week. Bay Area artist and graphic designer Valerie Shagday stopped by to tell us about her career as a designer, show us some of her work, and lead us all in a creative exercise. After taking us through a brief presentation, Valerie challenged us to rearrange the lyrics from a song into a graphic representation. Mission in hand, we grabbed our markers, pens, pencils, and got to work!
In the end, Valerie challenged us to think about how the way in which words are displayed can enhance the message the artist are trying to convey. Thanks for opening our eyes Valerie!
