I have an unhealthy obsession with Sam Smith and I have decided to do “Leave Your Lover” which is on his debut album “In The Lonely Hour”. All of the songs on the album are about loneliness, this particular song is about liking someone who’s in a relationship with someone else. I chose this song because I like to tell stories with music, even if they aren’t my stories.
Sam’s from London, has amazing hair and bashful personality. He used his music video for ‘Leave Your Lover’ to come out as gay, seeing that it might be easier and less stressful than coming out in an interview. In fact the album was inspired by unrequited love. I really appreciate the fact that he took that heartbreak and turned it into music. I hope you enjoy my cover!
