As a way to interact with Antiprism: Exploring the Vessel XII Controversy at The de Young Museum, on-site columnists in the Sunset Media Wave program were invited to create two-dimensional interpretations of several sculptural forms within the installation. Students were encouraged to draw inspiration from the basic architecture, color and qualities of an antiprism by utilizing tape to stencil off and emphasize the distinct planes of objects they drafted with various mark making techniques. The results came out great, and I was pleased with how focused and intrigued the Wavers were with their pieces. The project provided them with a direct way to experience and add to the ongoing story of the installation.
