Hello viewers! My name is Brian, and over the course of this cycle, I will be using this column to talk about chess openings. I would say that I am a pretty advanced player, having competed at local and city-wide tournaments in the San Francisco Bay Area, but intermediate to advanced players should be able to follow along with the Four Famous Chess Openings column.
Over the next few weeks, the openings I will be talking about are the Sicilian Defense, the Kingside/Queenside Fianchetto, the Italian Game, and the Spanish/Ruy Lopez Game. In each post, I will give a brief overview of what the opening is, the history behind the move, how it is used nowadays, and my personal experience using the opening in a game. I will also be incorporating photos to help the readers understand how each move works. Stay tuned!
