Hello! My name is Aceline (pronounced like “gasoline” without the “g”) and I’m a brand new contributor for Sunset Media Wave. My column Symphony of Epiphanies will focus on how to emotionally support others and make those around you feel more accepted and welcome. I think it is important to learn to do this because you never know what someone is going through or how much they need someone to be there for them. Mental health is important, and a big step in maintaining that is having others there to help you when you need it. I’m sure that if you were going through something, you would want others to provide you with emotional support.
Through my column, I hope to instill new values and evoke some epiphanies. There are certain issues that I believe people, particularly teenagers, don’t address as much as they should, such as diversity and inclusion. I also want to use the column as a place to share tips and techniques on how to reach out to people and give them the support they need. What inspired me to write this column is what I’ve learned from my own personal experiences and from my school’s Peer Resources program (a program geared towards helping my peers and community). I’m super excited to start sharing because I think we could all use a little more support, though some more than others.
