Long time no see!
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted but don’t fret, I have this post and another one coming! As you probably could tell from the title, this piece was inspired by the one and only, Kehlani and her new song, Honey. If you’ve never heard of her, I suggest going to YouTube ASAP. She is one of my favorite artists to listen too on the daily and is currently climbing up the charts with her music! Kehlani’s new album, SWEETSEXYSAVAGE, recently won as one of the best albums of 2017 according to Billboard, Pitchfork, Rolling Stones, and Time Out! She also happens to be a Bay Area native like me!
As you can see from the (bad quality) picture (sorry!), I decided to do something more physical and create this with colored pencils, watercolors, pens, and markers. It didn’t turn out how I wanted but it was a good way to practice my realism…even if you can’t really tell what I was trying to do. LOL. If you’ve heard the song, you can see the lines that I interpreted literally such as the bee and the honey. I also attempted to incorporate her famous sunflower tattoo that lies on top of her left shoulder.
