San Francisco shaped me into who I am today; if I had lived anywhere else, I wouldn’t be the same person at all. With this collage, I wanted to create the feeling of an organized mess, because I think it represents San Francisco well. For every downtown crowd to push through, there’s an empty cafe to sit at in the sunset.
The poem I used was part of a bigger piece I had written, edited, and performed several times over the course of two years. It was heavily inspired by the southern gothic writing style but about San Francisco, and I thought it would go well with the whimsical, mysterious, crowded vibe that I want my collages to have.
