For this week’s post, I wanted to focus on something that has been really prominent throughout the media as well as my own life recently – gender inequality. Specifically, women having their rights stripped away, and not having the control they deserve. Just imagining a woman not having the right to her own body is sickening to me, and I wanted to communicate that through this piece. But not only did I want to communicate the somber reality of the world we live in, and how women are treated, but I also wanted to bring hope and determination to women. To remind them that it’s not too late, and we still have the chance to make a change. I tried to use images that represented the fear and sadness, and incorporated the sliver of hope into the writing of the poem.
