Heartbreak comes in many forms. It can be found in romance, friendship, and family. Being heartbroken makes me feel like everything in my life is frozen, as if I were stuck in a black hole, falling. Just when I think it will stop, something worse happens. Along with being unable to recognize my own reflection, it takes everything in me to get through a day while looking normal to my peers. After experiencing heartbreak, I’ve told myself that I never wanted to feel that low again, which in turn, leaves me closed off to love.
I’ve experienced many forms of heartbreak. I’ve loved and I’ve lost and there have been times during which my heartbreak has caused me to go into a dark place without an escape. Heartbreak has fueled much of my songwriting, as it has provided me with inspiration and something to respond to.
As you’ve probably guessed, I’m back for another cycle! Since we’ve found our perfect ballad already, we will be going down a new road. Simply Heartbreak will be similar to my last column, but with a few differences. My goal this time around will be to focus on my journey through heartbreak and how it affected me. Also, you can expect a new song at the end of the cycle that represents the theme of my column. For each post, I will be sharing a time/type of heartbreak that I’ve experienced, whether it’s through romance, friendship, or self-care. Similar to my last column, for each post I will be covering a song that resembles my own heartbreak.
Thanks for reading and I hope you continue with me on this journey through heartbreak. See you in the next post!
P.S. Here is the link to “The Perfect Ballad” (The One for Me) from the last cycle!
