Girls in their rooms, girls on the street, girls in their yard, Jesus loves you! Rather than the synthetic new wave of girlhood that is branded and merchandised, I wanted to capture girls in authentic states. Let them be mean, complex, and oily; my goal is to illustrate what they want to do and what they are already doing. We experience the confinement of voyeurism because nobody can curate an organic thought, so let us be mean, evil and free. We are born painfully naked for the world to exploit us, so why not be gross and act ugly?Girls don’t need to settle for monotonous silence and chucked words. Why can’t the streets be our bedroom where we can take and have control?
I didn’t take these photos for these girls to be seen as subjects. See these girls as HAPPY LUCKY GIRLS.
