“I took my shirt off in the yard”
No one saw that the skin on my shoulders was golden
Two digital paintings based on songs that make me picture something when I hear them. The first is based on “The Glow, Pt. 2” by The Microphones, a song from one of my favorite albums of all time, and also takes inspiration from the album cover. This album has a lot of staticky-sounding layers and a generally haunting windswept atmosphere, especially in this song, so my goal was to make a piece with the mood and colors to match that, kind of vibrant and muted at the same time.
The second is based on “Design: I” by Sweet Trip, which is an electronic song with no lyrics, so I went off of what the noises felt like. The noises felt like my brain was being operated on with sharp implements by a futuristic robot brain surgeon. If you bit into this song, it would taste acidic. It would be crunchy but crush easily. It would have liquid in the middle. It would be a cool temperature, like metal. It would probably not be safe to consume. What this means is that I just designed the robot and illustration to be pointy and weird.
