August Petersen – The Trip

As an artist, my ideas tend to come in short, sporadic bursts of inspiration. These moments can strike anywhere, anytime, and even if they last only a few moments, they leave a lasting impact. The Trip was born from one of these flashes of creativity, and it just might be the most unique, ambitious, and downright wild film I have ever made. And that’s saying something.

My upcoming short film, The Trip, follows Adrien, a lost hiker who stumbles into a world of madness after a berry-induced psych trip reveals strange creatures lurking in the wilderness. Blending comedy, horror, and mystery, the film will embrace a psychedelic, surreal aesthetic that mirrors its mind-bending storyline. To bring this vision to life, I plan to experiment with bold cinematography and unconventional editing techniques, pushing beyond my creative comfort zone to craft something truly original.

Right now, I’m in the storyboarding phase of pre-production and will soon begin casting. Stay tuned—this is going to be a trip.
