2025 is a new year! New Year, new me, as people say! I’ve always loved the Japanese tradition of folding 1,000 origami cranes to make a powerful wish. (The crane symbolizies good fortune.). One of the more popular legends is that a girl with leukemia, folded a thousand cranes in hopes she would be granted a wish, but sadly, she died.
I wanted to make this wish fulfillment project special by bringing in a sense of community to my process. 1,000 cranes folded into the Golden Gate Bridge represents the connection of people within the San Francisco community! Each crane holds some part of those around them, ranging from wishes about school to life goals and beyond
