This week I decided to visit one of my favorite streets in San Francisco, Haight Street. Haight Street is known for its alternative vibe and its plethora of vintage stores. When I was younger, I believed Haight Street had a sort of “dangerous” stigma to it (and to kids and tourists it probably still does), but as I’ve grown up in The City, I have grown more accustomed to the Haight Street environment and have realized that it holds many diamonds in the rough.
Especially now that gentrification has spread all over The City, many places are not what they used to be. On Haight Street, you can find many hip restaurants and stores but I primarily go for my favorite vintage store, Wasteland. Wasteland is a thrifter’s dream where you can find one-of-a-kind clothes from any era, especially the ’90s. Although Wasteland is one of the most pricy thrift stores I have ever shopped at, it is also one of the pickiest when it comes to choosing which clothes will make the cut to grace the racks of its store, which is why I love it. When it comes to thrifting, I am not the Goodwill type of gal. Although I wish I was the Goodwill type of gal, given I would save a lot of money, I simply cannot develop enough patience to rummage through racks and buckets of unsorted clothes, and I take my Giants hat off to anyone who can.
Moving on to what I wore on this gloriously gloomy day in San Francisco. I decided to wear my trusty wool coat which I purchased from Zara. This coat is hands down one of the most versatile items I own, and whether I am wearing it with a dress and heels, or jeans and sneakers, it always just seems to work. Along with the coat, I wore my favorite Neuw Denim Jeans, a white t-shirt, and my mint-condition New Balance sneakers that I that just thrifted—yes, THRIFTED—from my other favorite thrift store, Relove. Of course, I had to find the perfect pink wall to stand in front of to finish off the look.
I Haight the fact that this is my last blog post for Sunset Media Wave, but it has been a great run here at The Wave. I truly have learned a lot about what it really takes to be a blogger. I have learned that consistency and quality are key, and that it is incredibly important to always be yourself. Writing for The Wave has definitely been an unforgettable experience that I will always be grateful for, and with that I bid you adieu.
