May has always been an exciting time of year because it means Summer break is on the horizon. This year, it’s especially exciting because I graduate from high school in approximately one week. I know. One week.
It feels crazy because soon I’ll go off to Shanghai to intern with Web2Asia, an e-commerce/marketing company. Right now, it feels like time is moving very fast, yet still in slow motion. It will be an exciting summer, for sure, but because I will be gone for the bulk of Sunset Media Wave’s Summer cycle, I am sad to say that this will be my last official post as a regular contributor—at least for now. After my Shanghai internship, I will be back in the Bay for a few months to kickstart my gap year before I attend The New School in New York City where I will pursue an undergraduate degree in journalism and design!
Currently, I’m looking for an internship in the Bay Area to occupy my time in the Fall, but as soon as spring rolls around, I will had to India to study abroad for a semester. Needless to say, I’m very excited. But none of this feels real yet. Even graduating still sounds far-fetched and a little surprising.
But regardless of the future, these past four years have been a crazy rollercoaster of ups, downs, and backward loops. I’m really glad it’s over. And I’m really proud to have gotten through it all. Sunset Media Wave, I will miss you. Thank you for helping me rediscover my passion for writing and storytelling. Thank you for helping me blossom as an artist. Thank you Jon, Michael, and Glenn.
