Hi, my name is Helen and I’m a 16-year-old, self-taught artist! I love comics, cats, and funny things, but everything I touch ends up turning emo (my succulents thrive on a diet of chlorophyll and deathstep). That’s why this column will follow the creation of my angsty comic, BLOODSDREAM.
BLOODSDREAM is about a (seemingly) normal girl named Cassandra, who has the powers of a prophetess. She hallucinates that random strangers are chasing her, only to realize that they’re the souls of people who are about to die. She has the power to save these people in her dreams, at the cost of her own health and maybe even—gasp—her life?
Themes and concepts of this comic will include…
- The Meaning of Life (sorry Melina)
- Justice
- Charity
- Activism
- The Bystander Effect
- The Value of One Life in Comparison to Another
Basically, this is human nature at its finest, at its darkest, and everything in between. The concepts will be presented through the depiction of various social issues and moral dilemmas, most of which are unrelated at first glance, but all of which ultimately contribute to the main character’s choices, relationships, and development.
Upcoming blog posts will include art, characters, and worldbuilding. For my final post, I’d like to have a finished first chapter!
Making a webcomic has been my DREAM (hahaha) for a long time, so I hope you enjoy the process as much as I will! Until next post!
