One of the things that stood out to me while I was in Shanghai was just how busy the streets were. People surrounded me on all sides and I had to pay extra attention to where I was walking at all times. The bustling movement I felt can be summarized in this photograph I took on Nanjing Road, the main shopping street in Shanghai. While I drew this photo on a small sketchbook page, the drawing still took me quite a while to complete due to all of the details in the fore and mid ground.
There are so many vertical lines and gestures in the composition, so I decided to accentuate them with my digital watercolor edit. Below is the final version!
