Animation has always been close to my heart, but I’ve never been able to finish any of my story ideas. Through this column, Paper Alien, I plan to change that. You can do almost anything with animation, so I’m planning on pushing that boundary while documenting the my process behind creating my first professional short. My story follows a lonely alien who is frustrated with how his love life is going, until one day he meets the love of his life, which is where it all goes wrong. The medium I’m working with is colored paper, so get ready to view a lot of rough drafts and ideas as I dial in my vision and bring it to life. I feel like in this project I can mix my two passions together, graphic design and animation to tell a funny and compelling story.
