As a kid, my favorite thing to do was dress-up. I collected an embarrassing amount of Disney princess costumes. I’ve long stopped dressing up, but the whimsicality never left me. Over the course of the last couple of months, I’ve fallen back into a different approach to dress-up: cosplay. I think it’s fun to put my own spin on the characters, and I like experimenting with makeup to portray a character in a certain way. For my first post, I’d like to show one of my first cosplays: Kyouka Jirou from My Hero Academia. Though I’m not as attached to the series as I was when I started cosplaying, I’m most comfortable cosplaying Jirou because I have a similar style to her, and it feels natural. Over the course of this cycle, I’ll also be posting updates on my current project, as I’m making the headpiece and arm pieces from scratch for Eijirou Kirishima, who I’ll be cosplaying at a big convention in May. I’m excited to share my work!
