I’ve been experimenting with different styles and colors to create the backgrounds for my animated sets. Originally, I planned on taking photos and then adding filters, but due to the current pandemic and my limited traveling options, I have decided against it and, instead, will be painting my own scenes.
I have been envisioning simple backgrounds with bright colors that put just enough behind my characters to offer a sense of place and make them pop.
At the same time, I want to leave enough space for the viewer to interpret the setting for themselves. Over the last few weeks, while experimenting with different options, this style has really grown on me. I hope you like this abstract approach that relies primarily on splashes of color.
